JD for Design & Development Engineer

REPORTS TO: Manager - Design

JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the design and development of new products, ensuring they meet client needs and specifications, are cost-effective, and adhere to safety and environmental standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Collaborate with clients and team members to develop a clear and concise design brief.
• Utilize mathematical and engineering knowledge to create functional and effective design solutions.
• Conduct research to ensure the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of the design.
• Assess the usability, environmental impact, and safety aspects of the design to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Collect and analyze data from prototype tests to refine designs.
• Conceptualize designs for composite components and assemblies to support proposals.
• Generate solid and surface component and assembly models using CREO or SolidEdge software.
• Modify existing designs based on testing feedback and re-test as necessary.
• Oversee the product development process, track progress, manage costs, and keep clients informed on updates and milestones.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC design.
• Proficiency in SolidEdge or CREO software for product design.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal mechanical design using SolidEdge/CREO.
• Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience in chiller design is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of sheet metal products and structural design.
• Familiarity with refrigeration design principles is a plus.
